In/Organic Founder Interview: Chord CEO Bryan Mahoney breaks the news on Zenlytic

Every company is wiring Claude and ChatGPT into its data, and most can’t trust what comes back. This week, Chord announced it is acquiring Zenlytic to fix that. CEO Bryan Mahoney joined us the day the news broke.

The deal is a bet that context, not the model, is the moat. It also tests a bold claim: AI is shrinking the integration risk that kills most deals.

The deal. Chord is the commerce data platform Bryan co-founded after serving as Glossier’s founding CTO. Zenlytic is an early mover in AI-native analytics for enterprises. Terms weren’t disclosed. Bryan had followed Zenlytic for about two years, and a shared investor kept the two companies friendly. Once he got under the hood, he found Zenlytic was ahead of Chord on context, by roughly twelve months in his estimate. He calls it an acquisition that feels more like a merger.
